Jim Belisle

Jim Belisle was born in 1982 in Hammond, IN. He was homeschooled exclusively and had the opportunity to study piano from the age of six, as well as the trumpet in high school. He traveled three summers during college representing Hyles-Anderson College as the pianist for a vocal ensemble. Jim graduated from Hyles-Anderson College in 2004 with a bachelor's degree and in 2006 with an internship in the music department of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN. He also studied conducting under Mr. Kirk Muspratt of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra.


Jim was hired upon graduation to teach at Hyles-Anderson College in the music department. He currently teaches piano, brass, and most of the advanced music classes there, and he also directs the college orchestra and several small ensembles including the college brass ensemble. Jim has played trumpet, bassoon, oboe, contra-alto clarinet, string bass, tuba, and trombone in the First Baptist Church orchestra. He has written several dozen orchestrations of vocal arrangements for the church choir and other groups for performance at his church and has co-written and arranged several songs. Jim also assists with the junior and senior high school orchestras at the Hammond Baptist Schools.
