Duncan Wilson

Arranger

Involved in brass bands from an early age, Duncan Wilson studied trombone at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He now has parallel careers as an orchestral trombone player, conductor, composer and arranger. As a player, Duncan has worked freelance with (almost) every orchestra in the U.K. and Ireland, and also specialises in orchestral valve playing (bass trumpet and euphonium). As a session player, he has many film and television credits.

Having taken lessons in orchestration from renowned operatic composer Simon Wills, Duncan is a prolific composer and arranger. Some of his band pieces are published by De Haske and The Music Company (UK) Ltd., and he has recently completed a large brass band commission for AboutSound.co.uk. One of his arrangements is featured on a recent CD release by the world famous Black Dyke band.

As a conductor, Duncan has worked with numerous brass and wind groups and also conducted the City of London Sinfonia. In 2010 he was appointed Musical Director of Kidlington Concert Brass, based in Oxfordshire.

Duncan is delighted to be a member of the Waterton Brass Music family!
