Steve Cross

Arranger

STEVE CROSS studied euphonium under Dan Perantoni at the University of Illinois in Urbana. During this time, he fell in love with the sonorities of the Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble as well as their respective instruments. During his college years and beyond, Steve arranged many works for solo Tuba or Euphonium with piano accompaniment as well as works for Tuba/Euphonium ensembles. Most of these were thought to be lost to the ages until a recent serendipitous find in his attic brought these scores back to light.

Upon reflection, Steve realized that his mid-life crisis could be filled, not with fast cars or young women, but with bringing these and new works out again for public consumption, which gives him the distinction of being the first person ever to resolve his mid-life crisis in this fashion. Steve actively pursues both composing and arranging mainly for low brass, interspersed with his love of cooking and dining. He resides in Wheaton, Illinois with his wife Cheryl, children Ashley and Drew, and his dopey dog, Maggie.
