This arrangement includes four variations, some of which can be omitted, depending on difficulty and venue. You can think of them as modular, each section easily connecting to each other, with the Beginning and Variation IV as anchors. You should exercise good conservative judgement when playing the swing variation (III), which may not be appropriate in a formal or religious setting.

Variation I gives the melody to the Trombone and adds a dotted rhythm counterline throughout. Variation II moves the melody around between the horn, trombone and tuba, with sixteenth note variants in the trumpets. Variation III is a swing version, and Variation IV extends the harmony a little and provides a recap and anchor to the other variations. Each part is marked "Lead" when appropriate and dynamic indications help reinforce this.
